#55 - You've Got Your Ball, You've Got Your Chain

Posted by Tami in

One thing that is kind of missing from this blog is what I eat. I promised once to not just list out what I eat every day (I can't find where I said it, but I know I did. And if I didn't, I meant to) like some obsessed psycho girl who wails for hours because she ate 7 grapes instead of 5 for lunch. But with that said, some people might be curious about my eating habits. I'm usually pretty certain to post about my overindulgences (freaking banana bread) or a tasty meal I made but I don't really talk much about my daily eating habits.

So, I figured what the hizzo? I'll post what I ate yesterday, as per my food journal. Granted, I didn't pork out ever yesterday, so this won't be glamorous. Just normal. Here goes:

Time Food Consumed Daily Calorie Total
7am.............1 c. (cup) milk, 90 cal; 1 c. Kashi cereal, 190.....................280
10:30..........Organic Banana, 100........................................................... 380
1:30pm..... TJ's(Trader Joe's) Peanut Butter Granola Bar, 140........ 520
2:00........... V8, 30; TJ's Lentil Veggie Soup, 260................................. 810
4:00........... 1 serving Pistachios, 180..................................................... 990
5:30........... Peanut Butter Kashi Granola Bar, 140............................. 1130
7:45........... TJ's Organic Chocolate Milk, 230...................................... 1360
8:45............Salad*, 745......................................................................... 2105

*2 c. Spinach, 15; black beans, 70; salmon, 100; 1/2 small avocado, 150;
1/4 c. walnuts, 180; 1 hard boiled organic + Omega-3 egg, 80;
mushrooms, 10;
juice from 1.5 limes, 15; TJ's /4 c. (2 servings) Spicy Peanut Asian dressing, 140

If I didn't specify an amount it was one serving. Also, the Kashi granola bar and chocolate milk are what we have pre- and post-workout (we went to the gym yesterday, after getting our eyebrows waxed... if I'm going to work out and get a tighter arse for my husband then he WILL have TWO eyebrows. 'Nuff said.) so they're high in protein and the milk is a much better post-workout recovery drink than Gatorade and the like. I can't link that because I don't remember where I read it and I am too lazy to Google it. But I linked Google there so you can prove me wrong (or right) if you so desire.

I know the salad was too late; we always have a tough time getting home and eating any semblance of early on gym nights, but that's just the way it is. Also, I know it's high in calories but nearly half of the calories are from the nuts and avocado, both of which are good in moderation. The limes are my smart little trick to make my dressing go farther, since I'd rather have about a cup of it (ok, like 1/2 of a cup). Two servings + freshly squeezed lime juice is my compromise :)

I can't freak out about calories too much, because I'm supposed to eat 2,600 a day but when I'm being controlled I always struggle with not eating enough. That's a good thing, because I doubt that I'll be able to eat much more than 1,600-1,800 on an average day when I reach my goal size. That, btw, is the 10-12 range, wherever my body says is healthiest and I'm still satisfyingly squishy enough for Jas- no, seriously, he always tells me that even healthy and fit I better still be "squishy", which is adorable. Methinks he mostly means my breasts, and even if I lose 200 more pounds I don't think that will be much of a problem. I have a huge chest and have since about 8th grade. One day I could lay flat on my tum on the floor, and the next I couldn't. Or close enough. Meh. I digress, yet again.

Also, I still don't eat quite enough fresh fruits and vegetables every day, but I have learned to (sort of) like bananas, and I almost never wake up in the middle of the night with my calves in horrid cramps. Plus, I get the servings in, they just aren't always fresh and the ratio of fruits to vegetable are like 1:5. I really just don't like fruit much.

I am putting the "good food habits" label on this bad boy post right here... good thing, since "bad foode habits" is numero uno on the frequency chain. Dang it! But, to be fair, many of those are talking about how I used to eat. So I don't suck as bad as it would seem, which is always a plus.

I don't have anything interesting left to say. Good-bye.
