A quick addition to my post from earlier, out of love for my readers... ok, really it's because I'm female, I just bought something, and I'm excited.
Just did two things:
Used an unexpected paycheck (just from babysitting once, so not a full check, but I thought I would just get it with my first real paycheck on Sept 1) to get two things that are going to be super awesome for my health goals.
1) Hot Air Popcorn Popper. For one, we never want to make popcorn lately because the stove method is a hassle, plus the oil is too unhealthy. Correction: Jason never does it, and I have been too tired but it's my favorite snack lately, and it's healthy enough that I want to stick with it! Plus, we just bought an 8 lb tub of popcorn from Costco, so that would be a huge waste! This was cheap and it qualified us for free shipping, so it really only cost $12 since shipping would have been $7... can't beat that!
With this, I have to break my habit of wanting 300 calories worth of butter on my popcorn. My husband says I simply must try brewer's yeast (which sounds gross but Jas says not to knock it until I try it). I also want to try lightly sprinkling on powdered sugar, or making a cinnamon-sugar mix and putting that on. Plus, I know there are loads of various seasonings we can buy... any one have any particular favorites?
2) I also bought a measuring tape so that I can track my inches and not just pounds. I have wanted this for a long time but $5 has just seemed like so much.
I also really, really want this but it will just have to wait. I used one at Curves during my short stint there last year and I really liked it. It would be encouraging to have this for weeks when the scale doesn't budge, and to really know how much muscle I'm gaining and fat I'm losing. I wonder what it considers water weight?
Anyway, that's all. I can tell you that despite my exhaustion I made myself make our salads at 8, when I had my cereal, because I knew I'd be even more tired later. The crazy thing is, I was enforcing discipline on myself but at the same time I wanted to do it, the same way I wanted to clean our apartment and I've been wanting to keep it clean, and I've been excited to measure my food into servings and count calories. It doesn't feel like a chore, and that's AMAZING for me. I hope exercising feels this way, too- actually desiring to do it.
We'll see. For now, I'm off. Hasta!
