In January 2008 I was shocked to find that I crushed the scales at an astonishing 367 pounds. My BMI was a ridiculous 57.5, more than triple the median of the healthy range for a person of my stature. This blog is the means of tracking my journey to overcome my addiction to food, to deal with the issues that led to my extreme weight gain, and my struggles in the process of surrendering my sin and embracing my Savior, the One and Only Jesus Christ. And, of course, celebrating my weight loss!
The quick low-down for the new folk who feel my profile is too sparse:
I'm married to an amazing man named Jason. I'm 26, turning 27 in October. That makes me feel very old. Somehow 27 seems a great deal closer to 30 than does 26. That's fine enough, just weird. Jas, btw, is 28; this fact keeps me feeling young(ish). We live in Seattle- actual Seattle, not suburbia... we lived in suburbia, realized we hated it, and moved into the city. We love this city; we love Jesus and want this city to know Jesus. A lot of this is because of our (amazing) church home since November 2007, Mars Hill Church. We have grown there so much, and the solid Bible teaching has played a prominent role in my desire to stop worshiping the idols of self and comfort [read: overeating, laziness, and escape into TV/Internet/Books/Anything but dealing with how desperately I need Jesus]. I want the Holy Spirit to win out over my sin nature.
Other than that... my favorite color is blue, though pink looks best on me, I love to sing and am working on getting better at the guitar, I'm a nanny to an 8 mo old named Brody (as of Aug 19, 2008), and the biggest thing in my life right now is learning discipline... submitting to my husband, spending actual quality time in prayer / Bible study, keeping my home clean, eating portion controlled servings and counting calories, and my least favorite... exercise.
I think that's plenty enough to get a feel for who I am. If you have any questions, ask... I'm a pretty open person, so don't be shy.
