I really detest Mondays.
That's not really in line with my efforts to be a more grateful person, and for this I apologize. My apology doesn't change the fact that Mondays sucketh.
In other news... this weekend was an utter failure! No implementation of my awesome fitness tips. In my defense, I couldn't move. Saturday I literally got off the couch less than ten times. Tears smarted my eyes every time I stood up or sat down. That's because I did lunges and squats (which KILL me... especially lunges) at the gym Thursday night, and then there were these new machines so I did those.
I can't describe them too well in brevity, but suffice it to say that they use your body weight to build resistance when you're on the less-strenuous part of a rep. For example, in one I sat on a chair part, and then tucked my ankles behind a padded bar with my knees at a 90 degree angle. The point is to push up, so that my legs would be in a straight line; weights make this more difficult depending on the pounds applied. On a normal machine when you let your legs back down it's about focusing on doing it slowly and controlled and not just letting go. Well, these machines make sure you won't just let go! So I did a LOT of leg work, and then I kicked up the resistance and incline on the elliptical and basically my legs hurt so badly on Saturday that I took 1,200 mg of ibuprofen and still cried when I went to the bathroom.
I hope I learned a lesson.
I didn't eat horribly, but I also didn't eat wisely. I mean, the good news is that I never snacked (tough to snack when you can't stand up, and I still didn't move much on Sunday because it still hurt a LOT) but we didn't have super healthy dinners. Relatively speaking they were healthy- we made two little pizzas with whole wheat crusts, low-fat mozzarella, low-fat chicken sausage, mushrooms, and lots of garlic- but even so it was still like 700 calories, and then it was our 6-mo anniversary and my sweet husband made dinner and bought dessert, but dessert was cheesecake and gelato and that was like 600 calories. Not super awesome!
That was a bad paragraph because I never really tied up the thoughts but I don't care. Needless to say, I have my first personal training session tonight so I hope that goes well and I'll stay back on track this week and be more intentional to PLAN healthy meals for the weekend :)

2 battle cries
SOunds like I always felt after a major leg workout with Christina. Sitting on the toilet hurt SO BAD!! I always found that if I worked out the VERY next day, even though it hurt like crazy that by the 3rd day I felt a lot better, but if I didn't work out, it almost always took about 8 days til I didn't hurt anymore. That is a tip for next time :) Good job pushing yourself. I think the personal trainer will do you some good though. I can't wait to see how it goes.
