#11 - No cookie!

Posted by Tami Hagglund in , , , ,

This has to be a quick post, but I'm sure most of you will appreciate that :)

I never want this blog to become like the 120 pound ninth-grader who gained a half a pound since this time last year so she writes down every. Single. Thing. She puts in her mouth. I will never consistently post lists of my eating. That said, I will try to keep tabs on that because... well, it's a pretty integral part of why I'm fat. As in, it's the reason.

So... Wednesday was a horrible, terrible, no good, very bad eating day. (Props if you got that) See, we were in charge of snacks for our Mars Hill community group on Tuesday night, so that afternoon Jas made the world's most incredible cookies. He even used organic whole-wheat flour (actual whole wheat, and not that enriched crap) and organic brown sugar! Plus, they're oat heavy. So in the land of cookies, they're not so bad for you if you eat 1 or 2.

Did I eat 1 or 2? Sure, within 30 seconds of getting through the door. Then I ate 1 or 2 while getting the ingredients to make dinner, then 1 0r 2 while making dinner, then 1 or 2 on our way out the door, then 5- yes, FIVE- with a glass of milk while watching American Idol when we got home. Then I ate like 10 on Wednesday. Seriously disgusting.

I can't tell you why I did this, really. What sucks is we tried to be responsible and only keep a few for home, but the recipe made a ton (we'll remember that next time) and even after loading up a plate, leaving as many as we could, we brought a lot home. Ugh.

Why do I still do that to myself? I knew I would regret it. I just lost any desire to actually say no. Literally, like a child, I will have to have my husband hide the cookies somewhere to prevent me from having any save for 1 or 2 that he doles out to me one or two times.

On the up side, yesterday I pressed on through another grueling workout, and we have some yummy little chocolate chip cookie crisps from Trader Joe's (aka my second favorite store in the world after Costco. I know, ironic pairing. What can I say- I'm a complex woman) and I ate a serving size worth and then stopped. It was beautiful :)

Ok- my lunch time is over! The hubby and I are off to a retreat this weekend, so you'll be hearing nothing but silence until Monday. I owe you all a post on my incredible new jeans! Have a great weekend!

2 battle cries

I think I'll just have to call you Alexander :) Seriously, though, even us thinner people struggle with self-discipline. I have this incredible metabolism that allows me to eat WHATEVER I want in whatever quantity, that I'm not sure I have great eating habits. I may be doomed for the day that I have kids and suddenly that all changes . . .

Well good job on eating only a serving of TJ's cookies!!

Homemade cookies are hard to say no to . . . I wish I had a tip. Slow down, think about the cookie as you're eating it--- see how many bites you can eat it in-- not one or two, but 10 or even twenty! hehe
