#57 - It Feels Like Forever

Posted by Tami in ,

Today's entry has to be short, because I am busy. Thus, an honorary List Monday :)

  • We went to another Mariner's game on Saturday- good times! They won, which was nice because that game was sandwiched by two losses. It's sweet for us, because our M's record is 2-0... I hope they keep that streak alive!

  • We parked like a gazillion miles away for the game, so I got a lot of walking back to the car. Jas actually dropped me off right outside of the ballpark because apparently Qwest Field had some motocross thing going on and our normal $8-15 parking lot (depends on how good and/or popular our opponent is; the Yankees and Red Sox will pull in toward the twenties while the Rangers are a simple under ten bucks kind of team) was a RIDICULOUS $30. Hells no! But we were already running late (I-5 was backed up ALL the way to Shoreline, so we tried 99, only to learn that it was even worse, so then we went back to 5 and lost about 20 minutes of our lives- and our timeliness to see Erik Bedard's first pitch. So lame.) so Jas wanted me to just get inside while he went to find parking. So, while I was wearing Keds with no socks and totally violated my poor feet and ankles I got about 2,500 steps out of the deal.

  • This brings me to my next point- I have a very nice Omron pedometer with computer tracking software... I just never used it. So I spent (literally) 3 hours searching for the spare batteries I got for it on Saturday and wore it for about half the day. I only got to like 3,700 steps, which was a bummer, but that's ok. Then I forgot to wear it both yesterday and today. But once I start remembering to wear it I am going to aim for a weekly average of 4,000 steps a day, just to start. I'll adjust that number based on what a normal day ends up being. I have to set small, measurable, attainable goals. If I begin with the daily recommendation of 10,000 I'll quit after a few days.

  • Overall, the weekend was ok. I actually was doing decent on calories (though I didn't write them down, which was stupid... stupid weekends) until yesterday. I was really sick (still feel horrible, but my lovely job doesn't have paid sick leave and you can't earn vacation days until you've worked here for a year- upon which you earn 5 whole days. They are seriously greedy.) with a terrible headache, achey body, dizziness when I stood up, and just general feelings of crappiness. I didn't have the energy to make dinner... so the husband brought home Chinese food. And it was REALLY good. I didn't even want to know how many calories it was, but I still had room for 1,200 so hopefully even if I did go over it wasn't by too much. EDIT: So you know, I had 1/2 of an entree (almond fried chicken... so bad, but so good!) and 1/2 of the fried rice. I know, it was probably a death trap of sodium and oil and calories. I can only say that we never eat like that and... I don't feel like I fell off the wagon or anything. I don't crave more bad food today- I am actually quite happy to stick with my healthy repertoire with a treat like last night now and then. The bad news is that, like I mentioned, I still feel pretty cruddy and have no energy but I don't want to miss going to the gym. I will just have to make an honest assessment of how I am doing when it gets closer to go-time.

  • I'm starting a "weekends" label, since they comprise 90% of the times when I don't stay on track. Good for me as a journalling tool, methinks.

Ok, big surprise, this wasn't very short. I did try though! Now you're up to date... remind me to wear my pedometer tomorrow, yah??
